Our Story
EFN started in 2011 with just 2 employees and a 500 sqm factory in Carrington, Newcastle. Through our passion for offering unmatched client service, our team and clients have grown steadily since then. It wasn’t long before we shifted into a 1200 sqm space nearby, where we began to focus more on commercial projects and structural steel.
By 2020, our team had grown significantly, and we relocated to a new 2400sqm workshop on a 6500sqm site in Warabrook, our current facility. Our team now has around 90 employees locally and up to 150 offshore employees ready to bring your design vision to life.
In 2020, we also acquired another steel construction business, Hunter Buildings. Established in 2000, the business has grown an excellent reputation in the industrial building sector. Located conveniently at Thornton, Hunter Buildings operates out of a 2400 sqm building on 9000 sqm of land, and the team provides fabrication services for EFN during peak periods.
With steady growth in the local market and strong demand, EFN began to forge a relationship with a manufacturing partner in Southeast Asia. The offshore factory is 10,000 sqm and provides EFN with an additional output of over 5,000 tonnes per year. All services provided by the factory are in strict accordance with project specifications and meet all Australian Standards.
Our Team
When iron, oxygen and the other minerals come together under the right conditions they form steel, a material stronger than any one of its parts. Just like steel, our team is stronger when we come together under the right working conditions.
For us, that means instilling a “can do” attitude into everything we do. We treat each other with respect and work collaboratively to solve challenges for our clients. Safety is a top priority, and we look out for each other, particularly our younger workers, as they build up their careers and experience.
We often support younger workers with their development in attaining rigging, crane and other training tickets. EFN also offers apprenticeship opportunities in engineering manufacturing and engineering drafting.
Our working culture extends to our loyal specialist subcontractors, many of whom we have partnered with for several years and understand what our clients expect from EFN.
